Vandaag heeft de Communistische Partij van de Filipijnen bekendgemaakt dat Benito Tiamzon, voorzitter van het Uitvoerend Comité van de CPP, en Wilma Austria-Tiamzon, Secretaris-Generaal van de CPP zijn gemarteld en vermoord. Revolutionaire Eenheid veroordeelt het fascistische leger van de Filipijnen (AFP) voor het plegen van deze laffe misdaden tegen Benito, Wilma en acht andere kameraden. We betuigen ons diepste medeleven aan de familie, vrienden, kameraden en aan het hele Filipijnse volk met dit zware verlies. We gaan door met onze steun aan de strijd van het Filipijnse volk voor nationale en sociale bevrijding.
Uit onderzoek van het CPP Politiek Bureau blijkt dat de Tiamzons werden ontvoerd terwijl ze in twee afzonderlijke busjes op de snelweg reisden. Ze werden zwaar gemarteld en vervolgens vermoord door hun ontvoerders van de AFP, die daarna probeerden hun sporen uit te wissen. Op 22 augustus 2022 werden “de toch al levenloze lichamen van de Tiamzons en hun groep gedumpt op een motorboot gevuld met explosieven en halverwege Catbalogan naar het eiland Taranganan getrokken voordat deze tot ontploffing kwam. Uiteindelijk werden slechts acht lichamen door het leger geborgen.”
Als Revolutionaire Eenheid hadden we de eer om Benito en Wilma te ontmoeten tijdens hun bezoek aan Nederland in 2016, toen zij als vredesadviseurs dienden bij vredesbesprekingen tussen het Nationaal Democratisch Front van de Filipijnen en de Duterte regering. We hebben hen leren kennen als zeer sociale en intelligente kameraden die in hun onbaatzuchtige dienstbaarheid aan het volk altijd toegewijd bleven aan het Marxisme-Leninisme-Maoïsme. De onmenselijke en illegale moorden door fascistische staatstroepen op geliefde leiders en kaders van de revolutie zullen alleen maar leiden tot revolutionaire opstanden tegen de onderdrukkende Marcos-Duterte regering.
We brengen het hoogste saluut aan de leiders en martelaren van de Filipijnse revolutie. We veroordelen alle zelfverklaarde “socialisten” en “communisten” in Nederland die imperialistische laster en leugens middels een linksig taalgebruik verspreiden over de revolutie in de Filipijnen. We roepen alle progressieve en revolutionaire organisaties in Nederland op om zich aan te sluiten bij Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle, een internationaal netwerk van organisaties die het Nationaal Democratisch Front van de Filipijnen ondersteunen.

Long live the Tiamzon martyrs! Support the Filipino people’s revolution!
Today, the Communist Party of the Philippines reported the torture and murder of Benito Tiamzon, Chairperson of the CPP Executive Committee, and Wilma Austria-Tiamzon, Secretary General of the CPP. As Revolutionaire Eenheid we strongly denounce the fascist Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for committing these cowardly crimes against Benito, Wilma and eight other comrades. We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, comrades and to the entire Filipino people with this heavy loss. We vow to remain steadfast in our support for the Filipino people’s struggle for national and social liberation.
The CPP Political Bureau’s investigation into the murders established that the Tiamzons were abducted while traveling in two separate vans on the highway. They were severely tortured and subsequently murdered by their captors of the AFP, who afterwards attempted to cover up their atrocities. On August 22, 2022, “the already lifeless bodies of the Tiamzons and their group were dumped on a motorboat filled with explosives, and tugged from Catbalogan midway towards Taranganan island before it was detonated. Only eight bodies were subsequently retrieved by the military.”
We had the honor to frequently meet and confer with Benito and Wilma during their 2016 visit to the Netherlands, when they served as peace consultants during the peace talks between the NDFP and the Duterte government. We got to know them as very sociable and intelligent comrades who in their selfless service to the people remained deeply committed to Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. The inhumane and illegal murders by fascist state forces against beloved leaders and cadres of the revolution will only further instigate revolutionary upheaval against the rottenness of the Marcos-Duterte government.
We give our highest salute to these leaders and martyrs of the Filipino revolution. We denounce any self-proclaimed “socialists” and “communists” in the Netherlands who under a leftish cloak only echo the slander and imperialist lies against the revolution in the Philippines. We call upon all progressive and revolutionary organizations in the Netherlands to join Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle, an international network of organizations supporting the National Democratic Front in the Philippines.
