In de ochtend van 8 april 2023 is de Zwitserse kameraad Marc Rudin, bijnaam Jihad Mansour, overleden na een lange strijd met chronische ziekte. Als Revolutionaire Eenheid betuigen we ons diepste medeleven met zijn familie, vrienden en kameraden. Met zijn overlijden hebben het Palestijnse volk en alle mensen die strijden voor vrijheid en rechtvaardigheid een trouwe kameraad verloren die al zijn talent en energie gebruikte voor de bevrijdingsstrijd tegen zionisme, imperialisme en kapitalisme.
Marc Rudin werd geboren in Zwitserland en werd op jonge leeftijd politiek actief. Hij sloot zich aan bij de Palestijnse revolutie midden jaren ’70 als lid van het Volksfront voor de Bevrijding van Palestina (PFLP). Zijn bekendste werk zijn de honderden, zo niet duizenden tekeningen, posters en ontwerpen die hij maakte voor de PFLP’s publicaties, waaronder Al-Hadaf, PFLP Bulletin, en Democratic Palestine. Veel van zijn posters staan gegrift in het geheugen van Palestijnen, Arabieren en internationals, die zijn posters nog steeds delen en hergebruiken.
Naast zijn artistieke bijdrages, was Marc Rudin ook een revolutionair die zij-aan-zij leefde met het Palestijnse volk in de kampen in Libanon en een strijder die vocht tegen de Israëlische invasie van Libanon. Zoals de PFLP schrijft in hun herdenkingsbericht:
Marc Rudin fought alongside his comrades in Lebanon during the battles of the Palestinian revolution and later lived a life moving between Arab and European countries, opposing Western imperialist criminal policies, as a result of which he was arrested multiple times by the Swiss authorities.
As the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine bids farewell to this internationalist fighter and artist, it pledges to remain faithful to his sacrifices and to carry on the principles for which he fought and dedicated his life. His revolutionary designs will remain a living testament to the struggle of our people and the justice of their cause, and their right to resist occupation until the victory over imperialism and Zionism is achieved.
Als Revolutionaire Eenheid halen we inspiratie en hoop uit het leven, de strijd en het werk van Marc Rudin. We zien hem als voorbeeld voor alle revolutionairen, specifiek in de imperialistische centra, en we beloven om in de geest van Rudin te blijven strijden voor de bevrijding van Palestina van de rivier tot aan de zee, voor het recht op terugkeer voor alle Palestijnse vluchtelingen, en voor de bevrijding van de mensheid van zionisme, imperialisme en kapitalisme.

Marc Rudin passed away: A Swiss in the Palestinian revolution
On the morning of April 8, 2023, Swiss comrade Marc Rudin, nicknamed Jihad Mansour, passed away after a long battle with chronic illness. As Revolutionaire Eenheid, we extend our deepest condolences to Rudin’s family, friends and comrades. With his passing, the Palestinian people and all those who fight for freedom and justice have lost a loyal comrade who devoted all his talent and energy to the liberation struggle against Zionism, imperialism and capitalism.
Marc Rudin was born in Switzerland and became politically active at a young age. He joined the Palestinian revolution in the mid-1970s as a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). His best-known work are the hundreds, if not thousands, of drawings, posters, and designs he created for the PFLP’s publications, including Al-Hadaf, PFLP Bulletin, and Democratic Palestine and the PLO. Many of his posters are etched in the memory of Palestinians, Arabs and internationals, who still share and reuse his posters as part of the struggle today.
In addition to his artistic contributions, Marc Rudin was also a revolutionary who lived side-by-side with the Palestinian people in the camps in Lebanon and a fighter who fought against the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. As the PFLP writes in their memorial notice:
