Today is the 55th anniversary of the New People’s Army (NPA) in the Philippines. An amazing milestone that should be celebrated by proletarians all around the world. We, Revolutionaire Eenheid, recognize the strength and endurance the NPA has shown in its correct and justified resistance against the fascist, semi-feudal, semi-colonial system that has plagued the nation and the people of the Philippines for centuries. The fact that the people’s war to this day, 55 years later, still stands and continues to grow shows that the NPA is and thus the struggling Filipino masses are undefeatable. It is an undeniable fact that as long as oppression by the comprador bourgeoisie and the big landowners persist the NPA shall live. As long as the people of the Philippines struggle, the NPA will be there to help them, protect them and educate them. Three things the current national government explicitly refuses to do.
Revolutionaire Eenheid recognizes that not only do our struggles have much in common, from struggling against Western imperialism to climate destruction, we also have much to learn from our Filipino comrades. Their persistence in the protracted people’s war shows that they are able to stand the test of time and grow with the needs of the people. They show us how to connect with the masses and how to learn from them as well. There is much we can learn from the great minds of the Philippine Revolution like the late Jose Maria Sison, may his spirit and thoughts inspire us and guide us forward to a better future.
It is an incredible feat what the NPA, under leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), has accomplished so far for the people. They have shown time and time again that they not only care for the masses, but actively seek ways to improve their conditions on their terms. We as people from the Netherlands can look in inspiration towards the NPA and are eternally grateful for their generosity and kindness in sharing their wisdom. We are in a privileged position to have members of the National Democratic Front, the united front of all revolutionary organizations in the Philippines, here in the Netherlands and although we wished they could be home with the people that they love and care for, we are honored to have them here.

Vandaag is het 55ste jubileum van het Nieuwe Volksleger (NPA) in de Filipijnen. Een geweldige mijlpaal die door proletariërs over de hele wereld gevierd zou moeten worden. Wij, Revolutionaire Eenheid, erkennen de kracht en het uithoudingsvermogen die de NPA heeft getoond in haar correcte en gerechtvaardigde verzet tegen het fascistische, semi-feodale, semi-koloniale systeem dat de natie en de bevolking van de Filipijnen al eeuwenlang plaagt. Het feit dat de volksoorlog tot op de dag van vandaag, 55 jaar later, nog steeds bestaat en blijft groeien, toont aan dat de NPA is en dat de worstelende Filipijnse massa dus onverslaanbaar is. Het is een onmiskenbaar feit dat zolang de onderdrukking door de comprador bourgeoisie en de grootgrondbezitters voortduurt, de NPA zal blijven bestaan. Zolang de bevolking van de Filipijnen worstelt, zal de NPA er zijn om hen te helpen, te beschermen en te onderwijzen. Drie dingen die de huidige nationale regering expliciet weigert te doen.
Revolutionaire Eenheid erkent dat onze strijd niet alleen veel gemeen heeft, van het westerse imperialisme tot de vernietiging van het klimaat, maar dat we ook veel te leren hebben van onze Filipijnse kameraden. Hun volharding in de langdurige volksoorlog toont aan dat ze in staat zijn de tand des tijds te doorstaan en mee te groeien met de behoeften van het volk. Ze laten ons zien hoe we verbinding kunnen maken met de massa en hoe we ook van hen kunnen leren. Er is veel wat we kunnen leren van de leiders van de Filipijnse revolutie, zoals de inmiddels overleden Jose Maria Sison. Mogen zijn geest en gedachten ons inspireren en ons naar een betere toekomst leiden.
Het is een ongelooflijke prestatie wat de NPA, onder leiderschap van de Communistische Partij van de Filipijnen (CPP), tot nu toe voor het volk heeft bereikt. Ze hebben keer op keer laten zien dat ze niet alleen voor de massa zorgen, maar ook actief zoeken naar manieren om hun omstandigheden op hun voorwaarden te verbeteren. Wij als Nederlanders kunnen inspiratie opdoen bij de NPA en zijn eeuwig dankbaar voor hun vrijgevigheid en vriendelijkheid bij het delen van hun wijsheid. We bevinden ons in een bevoorrechte positie om leden te hebben van het Nationaal Democratisch Front, het eenheidsfront van alle revolutionaire organisaties op de Filippijnen, hier in Nederland, en hoewel we wensten dat ze thuis konden zijn bij de mensen van wie ze houden en waar ze voor zorgen, zijn we vereerd om ze hier te hebben.
Lang leve het Nieuwe Volksleger in de Filipijnen!
Overwinning aan het Filipijnse volk dat strijd voor nationale en sociale bevrijding!
Lang leve internationale solidariteit!
